Through Christ, God shapes our hearts into a people who reflect His character.
Matthew 5:1-12
The Beatitudes can be beautifully split into two distinct parts: the first four focus on our inner spiritual condition before God, and the next four focus on our outer relationships with others.
While we can’t take on the perfection of God, Jesus challenges us to take on these attributes to be more like Him.
Spiritual Poverty is recognizing our own sinful nature and how we don’t compare to His glory and spirit.
Once we are aware of our spiritual poorness from the previous verse, we realize that we do fail and are really separated from God and Jesusa

Meekness here is not just submitting and being weak.
Psalms 25:8-10
As we turn to Him, recognizing how empty we are and submitting to Him, we realize how much junk we’ve been consuming and how His “food” is so much better for us than that junk.
We are called to forgive and have mercy because He has forgiven us.
Matthew 18:23-34
We may be just going through the motions and looking out for ourselves. But the moment something goes wrong, we are lost and needing help.

It’s not about just forgiving and having mercy on those who wrong us, but it’s about promoting peace and God’s love to all we come across and every situation.
